BlackBerry CEO John Chen announced at MWC they will be releasing the BlackBerry Q20 «Classic» device, the BlackBerry Q20 will feature the traditional
trackpad and core buttons as shown in the image above, legacy device

Operating many of the on - board systems was

trackpad sensitivity issue... I du n no for sure, but the 9700 feels MUCH snappier and smoother than the 9650, despite the latter having twice the app memory (512 vs 256 MB)...
BlackBerry users who are stuck with CDMA - based carriers (
like Verizon) now have another option in the form of the Bold 9650, replacing the Tour and its janky trackball with an optical
trackpad.
Those of you who make use of one - handed navigation will have no issues here and much
like other BlackBerry 7 devices, instead of individual buttons, the Send, Menu, Back and End keys are all part of the same piece, with the
trackpad centered in the middle.

That said, the
trackpad on the Touch Cover still provides simple functionality,
like left - and right - clicking, two finger scrolling, click and drag, and a two - finger tap brings up the command bar.
But I actually think the
trackpad is a kind of crutch anyway, due to the fact that you need to remember to press the cursor key once only, just
like a screen gesture — switching between a cursor pad on my Windows notebook and my Android tablet would drive me slowly insane, or at least my fingers will eventually shut down in epileptic fits.
This could well be where the Transformer has trounced the competition --- it's drawn us all in with its netbook -
like form factor, including keyboard and
trackpad, then closed the deal by making the keyboard disappear when you don't need it.
At first I thought it would be
like my MacBook Pro
trackpad and actually press down, but I love the fact that the tracked on the Mini Keyboard is solid and one less thing to worry about wearing out.
Available as of yesterday, the Curve 8520 throws the Curve lineup forward with a speedier processor, improved keyboard, more memory, new
trackpad navigation system and other tweaks and additions
like dedicated music keys.
I'm generally not a fan of these, but I
like how you can wake the phone with the
trackpad button.
Likewise, we're hearing that production on these isn't scheduled to begin until later this summer, which means the device is still pre-production and things could change up,
like maybe swapping out the trackball in favor of the optical
trackpad, which is said by BGR to be coming to the BlackBerry Driftwood (think T - Mobile version of the Onyx).
A full - size keyboard, high - quality
trackpad and a tablet that doesn't make your feel
like you're wielding a computer monitor are all things we want in a hybrid.
The optical
trackpad makes it easy to navigate around the device, although we aren't sold on the raised profile - it feels more
like a button (it is clickable, so it's a fair point).
Not to mention that Android was laying its own groundwork for supporting different screen sizes before the iPhone because iOS, and is today shipping not only on pure tablet devices but also pushing farther up into PC territory with things
like the ASUS Transformer and native support in the OS for rich
trackpad - based interaction (as well as mouse input as a secondary mechanism).
We've also heard that BlackBerry 6 will work well with non-touchscreen input as well and it looks
like it should suit the optical
trackpad.
The Bold 9650 looks almost exactly
like the Tour; on first glance, the devices are identical except for the Bold's new «
trackpad» for navigation, which replaces the Tour's often - problematic «track ball,» and some Bold branding on the battery cover.
The keys are very comfortable, the multitouch
trackpad is responsive, and you get tablet - specific function keys, while multi-key actions
like Cut, Copy, and Paste work
like they would on a laptop.
It can display app shortcuts and toolbar icons, it can detect stylus input, it can be used as a
trackpad, and it can detect gestures
like pinch - zooming.
Adding a slider to the Bold family would do well and we can all agree that this slider has some features
like it also (keyboard,
trackpad, chrome bezel style).
The
trackpad is also far smaller than we'd
like, and it's stiff, too.
At a glance, from the front the Bold 9900 actually looks a lot
like the original Bold 9000, with the update from the trackball to
trackpad being the most immediately noticeable difference.
That said, I do
like change, so I'm not suggesting the BlackBerry Classic needs to exactly copy the
trackpad layout and lighting scheme of the 9900.
