like all the
wood flooring and the
cabinet doors being brown.
My parents added some customer - built solid
wood painted
cabinets in the same style (not at all
like today's built - in
cabinets — not even the so - called «farmhouse style» — they're more disjointed and furniture -
like.)
I also
like the combination of the colors in the
wood floor and island, with the turquoise blue of the
cabinets!

like your
cabinet without the doors on ~ I think it breaks up that expanse of
wood.
This is an amazing idea, our
cabinets are exactly
like yours but with even uglier hardware!!!! Yuck!!!! But the
cabinets are made of solid
wood, so we didn't want to tear them out.

cabinets in the trash, I am installing two counter top surfaces on these

wood could be a good compromise for a one

So if you happen to have a dark
wood bookcase or open
cabinet in your home (
like I do, eh hem) and you want (or need) to keep it but want to lighten things up a bit, you CAN work with a dark piece and lighten it up without paint!
I don't actually call my style this to others but in repsonse to this Q I'm thinking «Ballard Barn»:)... neutral different yet complementary gray toned walls throughout our open concept home downstairs... darker
wood floors... leather sofas... newly remodeled white kitchen... white
cabinets on perimeter with gray Quartz counters... large Old world mahogany island with creamy granite that looks
like marble with more colors with chrome pulls on both... lots of textures throughout (grain sack pillows, chunky handmade by my mom throws)... artwork from my talented teenage daughter (straight knock off of Ballard styles of 3 horses.
And, yes, the bulk of my clients request to see what their
cabinets would look
like painted white, but every once in a while someone wants / needs them to stay as - is and I'm happy to work with the
wood tones too!
We used
wood veneer edging around the sides, and they look
like new
cabinet doors!
In the kitchenette, details
like the live - edge countertops and row of untreated
wood cabinets reinforce the treetop setting in an authentic yet decorative way.
While using two different colors of cabinetry might be a current trend, I have always
liked the look and find it visually appealing when done tastefully and sparingly (I used a

like green would be too «cabin - y» with my rustic
