It seems someone at UEFA, most
likely Michel Platini, has decided that the Champions
League should probably be kinder to those that are champions, even if they aren't as obviously powerful as the fourth -
best team in England, Arsenal whoever that might be.
After facing our fourth game
in the English Premier
League this weekend, Arsenal will face the first of the six group games
in the Europa
League and if Arsene Wenger is true to his word it is
likely to be a much changed
team that lines up for the Gunners and that could
well mean that we do not get a
good result, but will the Arsenal fans really mind or will we accept that Wenger needs to focus all his attention on the EPL games?
It will also provide extra motivation for
teams such as Liverpool and Tottenham as the competition progresses, with some of the
best teams in the competition and potential winners from smaller nations — the likes of Ajax, Anderlecht, Salzburg and Zenit immediately spring to mind — already

league, Colorado State
likely would've had a
better shot at making the NCAA Tournament had it merely done on Friday what Mountain West bid thief Wyoming did on Saturday, and beaten San Diego State.
As it stands, this squad is fairly
well positioned to compete for the Wenger Cup and make a deep run
in the Europa, if and only if we play first stringers
in Europe and use the bench for the
League and FA Cups... that being said, and based on the fragility of the manager and the
team in recent campaigns, it's more
likely that Wenger will focus on a top 4 finish and the FA Cup... while the reasons for such an approach may appear logical, it would confirm a rather disturbing trend and appear counter intuitive for any
team which claims to have higher aspirations... I feel that Wenger simply can't afford to put all his eggs
in the Europa basket because if he fails the potential backlash could cripple any top 4 chances due to the aforementioned fragile psyche that tends to rear it's ugly head like our own personal groundhog day each and every February... furthermore, can you even imagine Wenger bringing
in the necessary recruits to adequately supply top quality lineups
in a Thursday / Sunday dominated schedule; based on everything I've seen
in recent years, I can't see that happening...
in fact, mark my words, it's more
likely that we see Lacazette playing out wide
in Alexis's position with Giroud at striker, than we see Wenger make the necessary moves to right this ship... god, I hope I'm wrong but is it really that far - fetched considering what we've witnessed for past several years

League on Wednesday Night
in Team Stotter.
Although some of the
teams that are
likely to be fighting Arsenal for a top four finish and a place
in next season's Champions
League won this weekend, there was some
good news for the Gunners.
Mean while Liverpool seems to be the
team that will most
likely win the
league and am glad because this will just show up how flat line Arsenals excuses about money has been, All you need is some shrewd signings and a manager that has some tactics and you're
in business all of which we lack BUT just finish 4th and we're
good.
I argued that it would take a combination of Spalletti's tactics, drastic improvements from the current
team, and a few major signings for Inter to find themselves
in contention for the Champions
League... and that the existing group of players were
likely not
good enough to make it happen.
A mid-table finish would appear the
likely destination of Fulham at the end of the season, with the Cottagers neither here nor there with regards to standard of their performances, while early results would indicate that Mark Hughes, despite doing his
best to retain Fulham's dogged qualities which were instilled by former boss Roy Hodgson, who was undoubtedly the most successful manager the club ever had
in the Premier
League, that Fulham will struggle to win matches this season let alone the hearts of the entire nation as they did last season when Hodgson guided an average English
team to the finals of the Europa
League to the amazement of a nation and a continent.
