Driver licensing sanctions and fines enforcement can be particularly detrimental for people living in regional and remote communities that have
limited access to public transport, people on a low income and people who face barriers to driver licensing, all of which Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are over-represented — this points to inherent inequity within the licensing and justice system.
Consequently, financial barriers constrain
access to some services; (iv) People living in the outer suburban fringes of large urban centres, where
public transport infrastructure is more
limited, can experience difficulties in gaining physical
access to services; (v) Workforce issues experienced by service providers can restrict Indigenous people's
access to services.
