We have benefited from this year's rally in

with no leverage), but we are managing our risk by incorporating asset classes such as gold through the iShares Gold Trust (IAU);
liquid alternatives through the IQ Hedge Multi-Strategy Tracker ETF (QAI), long - dated Treasuries through the iShares 20 + Year Treasury Bond ETF (TLT)-- each of which diversify our portfolio risk and carry well within an ETF portfolio construct.
My strategy (if you can call it that) revolves around focusing on a basket of 8 - 10 highly

with a bit grapeseed oil, add a splash of lemon juice and 1/4 cup of chicken
stock, let
liquid simmer down by three quarters).
Steam until very tender then mash

stock, cream, or milk, dairy or non-dairy.
Add the lentils and barley along
with the
stock / water and cook for a couple of minutes until about half the

liquid 1/2 cup at a time and, once again, stir and allow to cook until
liquid is almost gone before adding more.
Top up
with some
stock or water if there isn't enough
liquid, then bring to the boil and cover to simmer for 1 1/2 hours or until the meat is tender but not retains its structure on the bone.
A note on chicken
stock: Most
stock powders are very high in salt and not much else so look for a ready to use
liquid variety
with as little additives as possible, and preferably low salt as you can adjust this to your taste.
Note: If you're new to cooking millet you may choose to start
with 3 cups of
stock and drain any extra
liquid that remains, once the millet reaches the desired texture.
Directions: Cut in half and seed squash, place flesh side down on parchment covered roasting pan
with a 1/2 — 1 C water / Roast at 350º until fork tender — usually 30 to 40 minutes / When cool, scoop cooked squash from skin and spoon straight into the soup pot / While squash is roasting, sauté onion in olive oil for 5 minutes, add garlic and cook for 2 more minutes / Add apples, apple juice, turmeric, curry and / or chili paste, stir together and cook briefly, a minute or so / Add cooked squash and 2 quarts of the
stock or water / Stir to mix / Simmer slowly
with lid on for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally / Taste and adjust seasoning and cooking time as needed / / Remaining
liquid is added after soup has been blended.
Place the potatoes in crock; sprinkle
with paprika, and add 1 cup of the chicken
stock into the slow cooker.Cover and crock on HIGH for 2 hours, or until the potatoes are just tender.Transfer 2/3 of potatoes to a food processor or blender, along
with the cooking
liquid.
Grab yesterday's roasted Brussels sprouts and tip them into a pot
with 2 cans of chickpeas (
with or without the
liquid), 1 can of diced tomatoes, and 1 quart of chicken or vegetable
stock.
