Your reference
list should include a combination
of internal and external contacts, for example, one person
who was your direct boss, one or two peers, one or two employees (direct reports), a
vendor, and a customer / client.

The marketing agreements we prepare for clients have included such services to lenders or title agents as helping market and promote loan or title products through the brokerage's publications, placing the lender or title agent's banner on the brokerage's Web site, displaying the lender or title agent's sign in the real estate office and at open houses, handing out brochures, providing a
list of individuals
who have visited open houses or signed
listing agreements or sales contracts, permitting limited use
of the brokerage's logo to identify the company as the preferred
vendor, permitting the lender or title agent to make presentations to the real estate sales staff, and providing office space and facilities.
Realtors — by shutting the public out
of the MLS system and by refusing to show FSBO
listings unless the
vendor agrees to pay their commissions — have created a virtual monopoly which EVERYONE
who wants to sell a house is practically compelled to deal with at least once or twice in a lifetime.
Be sure the company has in place a written policy for approving invoices; follows a single
list of approved
vendors; and makes clear
who is authorized to write off delinquent accounts.
As well, there appear to be too many willing Realtors,
who for a nominal fee
of about $ 500 will
list a house on MLS and then let the selling agent and
vendor hammer out the final commission.
Don't hire a manager
who lacks good judgment when it comes to repairs or can't keep a
list of qualified, affordable
vendors.
