FACTS BUT NO PANACHE — Just
listing your responsibilities
under each
job title won't help you to stand out from the thousands of resumes received for each position.
If you were freelancing or a contractor,
list all companies or persons for whom you worked
under one section with your freelance or contractor
job title as the heading.
Under each
job title, include a few bullets that
list the tasks you were responsible for during that position.
If you held more than one position at the same company,
list each
job title separately
under the company name, and follow each
job title with its own bullet points.
If you want to disguise employment gaps or frequent changes of
job, just
list your past
job titles and the names and addresses of your past employers in reverse chronological order,
under the heading of Experience and leave out the dates of your employment.
Under your
job title, don't keep repeating your
job description -
list items as accomplishments.
Unfortunately many
job seekers are
under the mistaken impression that just by creating a basic profile with default settings and
listing position
titles and graduation years, they have a «LinkedIn presence».
List your duties
under each
job title and make sure that they communicate what you have done in the past to the new employer.
