Although it's great to
listen to other women's stories, know that your experience will be unique.
The more that
I listen to other women and families describe their experiences with breastfeeding, I realize that breastfeeding successfully has much to do with how much support a new mother is given by her partner, family, friends, and extended community (like parenting groups, hospitals, etc.).
When
you listen to the other women with kids at play group, you'll hear a lot of, «We decided to go with cloth diapers,» or «We just started her on solid food.»
Being a woman in her thirties with two kids means that I spend an inordinate amount of time
listening to other women moan about the men in their lives (come on, it's a fact of life that MOST women moan about their fellas).
I will say that
listening to other women's birth stories was the most inspiring and insightful.
I couldn't face another day of
listening to the other women talk between calls about what they were going to make for dinner that night for their husbands, how clever their children were, or how hard it was to make ends meet.

Unlike the public trashing that
other women have gotten when accusing powerful men in the past — think Anita Hill, called «nutty» and «slutty» in 1991 or the long line of Bill Cosby accusers who, until very recently, were dismissed as gold diggers — Carlson's claims that Ailes ogled her and forced her out when she rebuffed him were taken seriously,

Sunder, One of the problems with the internet debates, especially those around controversial or hotly contested issues, is that the parties very often do not actually appear
to engage with each
other at all - they merely stand on their own ground shouting
to the world about their particular take on a point and fail
to actually
listen to what
others are saying... the classic examples of this is the «debate» about the promotion of
women in the European elections and the «debate» about grammar schools - both on Conservative Home.
