I also think it's funny how relatively rich western believers read the story of the rich man and Lazarus as teaching primarily about a
literal hell and
eternal torment.

eternal torment!
In other words, Christians must accept that
hell is
eternal, the Bible is inerrant and God created everything in six
literal 24 hour days.
So for Christians to believe the actual, absolute,
eternal lake of fire «
hell», well if they only knew they were making something
literal that was always meant to be figurative.
