Creationism means believing in a
literal 6 day creation, believing that the words in the Bible were written in English and the term day was used (it wasn't but that's another argument), and a
young 6000 — 10000 year old
Earth.
I'm not denying the
literal nature of the bible by proposing some
young earth theory, or saying the bible is an allegory, nor am i denying the evidence from science.
@Ken, Bill Nye is, I think, talking about
Young Earth Creationism, which is a belief in a strict
literal interpretation of Genesis, which is inconsistent with the evidence we have available.
As you may know from my One Verse Podcast in which I am currently working through Genesis 3, and my
literal understanding of Genesis 1 - 3 ends up being quite different than the way
Young Earth Creationists understanding these opening chapters of the Bible.

literal interpretation of the book of Genesis, which says the
Earth was created by God in six days less than 10,000 years ago.
My list of beliefs which «faith» required included;
literal creation and a
young earth / universe, complete scriptural inerrancy, total abstinence from alcohol, no women in church leadership, absolutely sexually chaste outside of marriage, homosexuality equals pure abomination, and on and on the list goes.
My parents never really pushed
young earth creationism on me nor taught that it was a fundamental element of the Christian faith, but for most of my life I travelled in circles where it was assumed that good Christians embraced a
literal interpretation of Genesis 1 and 2, which describes the
earth as being created in six days.
At the same time, Iceland serves as a
literal and metaphorical example of the
young earth — it is one of the
youngest geological formations on the planet, and also the testing ground for these
young men to find themselves.
