The first step in learning how to write a book proposal (for any type of book), is realizing that a book proposal is basically an expanded (much longer version) of
a literary agent query letter.
Carol used an unconventional format (with bullet points) in
this literary agent query letter example, but content is king.
Your manuscript (or partial) better be accompanied by
a literary agent query letter (although, in this case, it would be more accurate to call it a «cover» letter).
The first type of person giving authors advice about the best way to write
a literary agent query letter is easy for most writers to ignore.
There are five types of people in the world giving advice to authors about how to write
a literary agent query letter (including book agents).
Just because someone might know more than you about the publishing industry doesn't mean they know how to write a successful
literary agent query letter.
Now that you've read my warning about

In other words, just because someone is CEO for a Fortune 500 company doesn't mean he or she can write an effective
literary agent query letter.
That means the best
literary agent query letters craft sentences with multiple layers of meaning (to make the most use of the space).
Not exact matches

agent query is simply a «pitch
letter» that writers submit to

Writing a

literary agents every month isn't easy, but it can be done.
In other words, the sole purpose of a
query letter is to «sell» or «promote» your finished book (or book idea) to
