When I was halfway finished, I sent email queries to some

pitched to a

The struggle that people within the industry face as we try to
pitch your book to everyone else in the value chain — sales teams, marketers, booksellers, and ultimately readers — is why the gatekeepers at the very beginning of the chain (the
literary agents) have to be so very selective about the authors we take on.
For most successful authors it takes many years searching for, then
pitching literary agents to get representation.
When you self - publish, there are no
literary agents to
pitch to who, more often than not, reject books due to the sheer volume of manuscripts they receive and the specificity of the books they're actually looking for.
If you want to get a
literary agent, publisher, and book deal... you must also know the basics about how

Instead, they prefer to be

pitches, query letters, writing excerpts, along with hosted live chats, blogs and video blog posts.
Just like with
literary agents, it makes a big difference if a publicist has strong relationships with the editors they're
pitching, since it can often mean the difference between ending up in the slush pile or being bumped up to top - priority.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to
pitch their projects to a
literary agent.

However, it's also a serious turn - off to

pitch for the same project they considered (and, presumably, passed on) once before.
