UK - based tuning company BBR has announced a new
range of tuning options for the Mazda 3
diesel models — with a headline 243bhp and 392 lb ft of torque for the 2.2 -
litre diesel models.
This latest
range of upgrades focuses on the 2.0 and 2.2 -
litre turbo
diesel engines fitted to the 3, 5, 6 and CX7 models.
While the UK's engine details are yet to be confirmed, Audi boasts of seven
diesel units,

litre V6 TDI with 241bhp.
Otherwise, expect the same combination of four - cylinder petrol and

range, with plenty of performance (0 - 62mph only takes 8.5 seconds), yet fuel economy can still reach up to 65.7 mpg.
The versions which gain the option are the 181bhp Cooper S petrol, 141bhp Cooper SD
diesel and the
range topping John Cooper Works, which in the ALL4 four - wheel - drive Countryman and Paceman, gets a 215bhp 1.6 -

litre V6 petrol engine replaces the old naturally aspirated 5 -
litre V8, with prices starting at # 47,550.
There are three engine options, all horizontally opposed fours: a 2 -

diesel with 145bhp and 258 lb ft from # 24,995, a 2 -
litre normally aspirated petrol with 148bhp and 146 lb ft from # 25,495, and the

These savings allow BMW's latest
range of EfficientDynamics engines to do their best work, whether in 2 -
litre petrol or
diesel form (as the 530i and 520d respectively) or as the powerful six - cylinder 530d and 540i xDrive, the latter of which produces 335bhp and still manages an official 37.6 mpg.
But it's almost certain to use the same engine
range as the saloon car — 161bhp and 188bhp 2.2 -
