It's been so long since I've read the story so a lot of
little elements of the plot are fresh surprises, which is awesome!

The film is on a fine line between fantasy and thriller with an
element of sexual fantasy running through the
plot for young teenage girls, nothing strong, think along the lines
of «Twilight» teenage angst mixed with «Cursed» or a
little bit
of «Ginger Snaps» but not as in your face as those films, there is still an enjoyable werewolf film here.
The former mostly mixes the usual lip - synch and movie
elements, but it also attempts some sort
of plot and incorporates specially - shot footage
of Jolie in character, so it seems a
little more interesting than usual.
Sometimes it loses himself in the hugeness
of the magnificent gameplay, but it's a
little sin, and the supporting
elements, from the
plot to the fantastic artistic direction, confirm the quality
of the production.
I do agree with most
of your comments, although I was perhaps a
little more insulted and disappointed by the formulaic
elements, particularly the unsurprising «surprises» that so clumsily and artificially shoved the overburdened
plot forward.
So Cap's starting point and then sort
of his proximity to those
plot elements was a
little more removed, so his role ended up being the size that it was.
Back when I was in high school, one
of my classes had been American Literature, and during the course
of reading his short story, «The Cask
of Amontillado», our instructor told us
of how Edgar Allan Poe believed that every
element of a story should push forward the
plot in some way; even
little details that might otherwise seem inconsequential actually fill in the thematic blanks to make the story a more enriching and engrossing experience for the reader.
There's this big thing
of who's on Audrey's side and who isn't — it's a
little plot element from Austen's novel.
Perhaps viewers who like survival dramas (the ratings for ABC's similarly premised «Lost» might indicate there are many people who do) will find moments
of interest, but Flight
of the Phoenix offers very
little above standard
plot elements and a very predictable turn
of events.

Reynolds winds up romancing Arterton's co-accountant Anna Kendrick, after he makes a grave error with Arterton, and while Michael R. Perry's script occasionally feels a
little like a talking - animal comedy riff on some
of the
plot elements in Thomas Harris» novel «Red Dragon,» you might as well steal from the best.
After the introductions have all happened and the
plot now has to go through the business
of unfolding we are suddenly on, essentially, a grand caper, that starts to feel episodic and a
little empty, especially when Zero and Gustav are away from the fabulous interiors
of the stately homes and hotels that are clearly Gustav's natural
element.
A note to those looking to find, or avoid, magical
elements in the books they choose to read: Many reviews mention «magic» as a
plot element in The
Little Giant
of Aberdeen County.
I tend to write a woven story so when a lot
of plot elements are happening and coming to one finish, I find it's good to insert a few
little «wins» for the reader along the way, not leave all the good fun scenes and action right to the last chapter.
