I recognize the confirmation bias, and I'm sure there are a dozen counter-examples to trot out, but it has felt a
little more casual -
gamey in the review selection lately.
Although it was definitely a contrived situation put there to make the player work a
little bit, it wasn't outside the realm of possibility and didn't gag me with over-the-top
gamey - ness.
Ex Machina has something of I, Robot and the Siri - fantasy Her, and also a
little of that
gamey 70s classic Westworld.
This one is a
little different from Duck and Icarus — while it's a bit adventure -
gamey and does draw on my memories of MMOs, it maybe sits best in the genre that RPS likes to call «walking simulators.»
