at the set up, the Bloody Marys in the sunshine (using herbs from the
garden) and our delicious sponge with rhubarb compote, an elderflower jelly and rhubarb yoghurt.
My perfect BLT and the one I grew up eating (not that there's much of a differentiation between what you're probably used to), was simple — perfectly ripe farmer's market tomatoes (or
garden tomatoes) dusted with a
little bit of salt and pepper and layered with crisp iceberg lettuce,
at least four pieces of crispy bacon (flimsy bacon is a crime in my household) and then smooched between toasted whole - wheat sandwich bread smothered with light mayo.
The ones I grow in my

at the store, so these need very

As I gear up to begin seeding for this year's
garden, I'm reminded of the simple — but incredible — power of the home
garden, and that for a 3 or 4 month stretch in summer - fall, I buy very
little at the grocery store, my food coming from my own
little rectangle on this planet, or, for what I can't / don't grow, from the local farmers» markets.

Another great idea on how to get your
little ones to help in the
garden I had a real chuckle
at this one from Play Trains.
Last year, I spent a
little time with friends
at the more relaxed «beer
garden» area (image below), and it was great to be able to choose between listening from the more the relaxed patio or being close to the stage.
Then this morning we had a wonderful service

garden with our lovely daughter and son in law with Susie and her friend and

I have never had a green thumb, but as I always tell people: every year I stink a

However, having fresh produce
at my disposable for nearly free is a pretty awesome selling point, so each year I experiment a
little more than the year before and I've found the things that I can grow with
little to no effort in my
garden, and those that haven't worked for me due to my ineptitude or simply the type of soil and pests we have in my part of the world.

This project was a great way for me to inject a
little early color in to my
garden while being practical

So that part was easy for me because then feeding for her became an easy thing, and honestly I'm looking forward to the freedom, you know, I mean we took a

I wake up around 6 am, I prepare and have breakfast
at home, read a
little bit and water my Bougainvillea flowers in the
garden.
This year, we're opting to let the kids participate in the Easter egg hunt
at church, but last year, we did a treasure hunt with clues that led to a better prize (seeds for them to plant in their own
little corners of the
garden).
If you've tested your soil and prepared it with compost, this step won't be necessary for a
little while
at least, but I do like to use this homemade compost tea to give the
garden a boost.

Garden this weekend, we did a
little play on words when creating this delicious cauliflower version of fried rice.
You can eat it raw and sliced up in a salad for a snappy crunch with a licorice - like flavor or sauté it in a
little bit of avocado oil with some chopped cabbage for a a bowl full of goodness like we did
at the Atlanta Botanical
Garden this weekend.
I made and served this salad

little dinner party with zucchini from my neighbor's
garden — it was a huge success!

To dress up a
little more for a girl's day out
