Not only was it soothing for me to drink when I had
little appetite for much else, but the gelatin in the bones was calming and
healing to my
gut.
I'm still working on other
little health issues still that have lingered, but they aren't specifically tied to
gut health so I felt I could come off GAPS and still do some
healing through nutrition!
I also often combine this with a
little mixed bioflavonoids — Rose Hip or Blueberr syrup, for example, to help
heal the
gut and, as a result,
heal the skin.
The fiberous natural foods will
heal the
gut, sweep it clean, and give the
little gut bacteria something to grow on.
My
gut needs a
little more time to
heal before I can eat some of those things.
Kefir, compared to yogurt and probiotic supplements, will actually change your
gut bioflora, some of the
little guys in kefir will find a permanent home into your
gut, as opposed to bacteria from yogurt and commercial probiotics which help your
gut heal, but they all die eventually and they can not colonize your intestine.
With a
little time, these traditional foods have
healed my digestive tract, restored a healthy
gut flora, stimulated the production of digestive enzymes, and helped vitamins and nutrients begin to be absorbed and produced in my body.
Carole, do not give up, with the net we now have a much better chance of finding the
healing protocol we need, diet is phenomenal but sometimes our
gut needs a
little help with the supplements.
