Based on true events, it looks and feels like a gripping and complex
little psychological drama that trips wires of present - day sociological relevance, no doubt.

It has everything from
psychological drama, romance, suspense and it's wrapped in a very nice
little bow of crazy.
Yet, the film plays out with
little sense of requisite suspense that made the first Psycho such a great film, and many of the scenes, including the murders, play out as if they were made for a
psychological drama, rather than in a scary horror flick or tense, nail - biting thriller.
In fact, each of his previous films, from
Little Odessa to Two Lovers takes a concept that could be summed up in a sentence or two, then masterfully deepens the
psychological implications and the external
drama, with a fine attention to character detail.
There is very
little physical action in the film, but lots of emotional and
psychological drama, in a movie that, under different hands, would be considered overly long.
There's action and
drama and emotions the size of a German bomber crash - landing on to Hampstead Heath, but it's a film with very
little psychological game.

Screenwriter George Di Pego has done some decent work in crafting
psychological dramas in the past, most notable in Phenomenon and Instinct, but The Forgotten is just a
little too ambitious, as so many
little twists and revelations occur that leave no where to go with the material except into the Twilight Zone.
