Rather than being accessed via a plus - minus gate, as in the Hyundai Accent, upshifts and downshifts are called up via
a little rocker switch on the side of the shift knob, an odd arrangement.

This design frees up the console for extralarge cup holders — this is a vehicle made in the Alabama plant, mostly for the American market — and shifting gears with the
rocker switches becomes second nature to operate after a
little familiarization.
Superficially
little seems to have changed: there is a tasteful
switch from white to graphite and the clunky five way
rocker of the second generation Kindle has been better integrated to the right of the keyboard, but it all looks rather familiar.
There is precious
little else going on by way of ports and connectors, though, with just a volume
rocker on the left edge and the on / off
switch a tiny button on the right.
