You'll still have to use the «Monster Hunter Claw (controlling movement with your thumb on the analog stick and bending your pointer finger around the PSP to control the camera with the d - pad)» when
shooting and targeting, but an upgrade allows for
ranged weapon lock - on a
little later in the game.
There are some platforming sections and even a
little bit of first - person
shooting to be done (the game's air - powered shotgun enables you to fill it with many different types of ammo,
ranging from rocks and spuds to pieces of glass), but really this is a game about tenseness, fear and the overwhelming desire to escape.
For example, the shotgun has power and a wide blast radius, but has
little range and only two
shots before reloading.
Subject isolation is good as well, but under closer inspection, some minor segmentation artifacts tend to be visible around the foreground subject, and dynamic
range is a
little more limited in bokeh mode than in standard
shooting mode.
Dynamic
range is a
little limited in some
shots, with its automatically - triggered HDR mode not always kicking in when required.
