I have one large one that is brown on top and stone colored on the bottom — not sure how old it is, but I found it in a little house shed at my MIL's when I was first married 30 years ago and it had been there for a while, so at least probably from the early 1900's would be my guess.

What I liked was that they could paint the stone a little, then save up the money to paint the house and put on the cladding.

We took an existing 1 st floor bedroom and extended it out just 8 ft and created a beautiful family room w / fireplace with 2 French doors that walked out onto a paver patio that was the length of the entire house that had a hot tub, a stone zen garden with a little fountain, a gazebo where we had a wicker seating area and also a lovely flowered area for dining.
