just pin them on my desktop?

Many
tiles are more than
just an application launcher, they contain
live data that updates automatically — a weather
tile will automatically show the latest weather report, a news title will scroll the latest from your feeds, the social widget will show the latest photos from Facebook, and your stock ticker will automatically show you what those greedy Wall Street people are up to.
You could of course use the social network's website in your browser, but you'll give up the advantages of
live tiles, the ability to use the social network in the sidebar while you browse (as only one browser app can be running at a time), and push notifications, so the experience
just isn't the same.
And as long as I think about the
live tiles on the right as «gadgets» —
just something to see more information at a glance — and / or to make available quick links, I am fine with them being there.

In the Windows 10 Anniversary Update,
Live Tiles will include a new feature, which the company describes as «Chaseable
Live Tiles» that allows you to click a story, picture, or content in the preview and open the app on that content, instead of
just opening the app.
Personally I'd like to see
live tiles get full color icons or
just photo backgrounds with text, and turned into sidebar gadgets.
Stardock's Start8 even provides a «Windows 8 style» Start menu that will let you see
live tiles in a floating pop - up Start menu,
just like the one on Windows 10.
Windows Phone 8.1 supports
live tile updates from websites that have configured the feature,
just as Windows 8 does.
I want large
Live tile sizes on existing phones, which will allow me to customize my Start screen
just like the Start menu on my desktop.
Despite appearances, the Start menu is almost exactly the same in function as the Windows 7 Start menu,
just with the addition of the
Live Tiles.
This app
just provides a link and
live tile that encourages you to download Office.
And if you still hate the
live tiles, you can
just remove them all.
We're
just suggesting that groups of translucent
Live tiles will give you a better picture of your Start screen and we happen to think that looks really good.
The
tile works
just like any other
live tile, and will alternate between showing the logo of the game, and swapping to an informational board which shows either an achievement you've gained, one you still have yet to earn, or the amount of time played in the title overall.
The
live tile doesn't update and locations have odd names instead of
just a simple city name.
For those who are unaware
just what
Live Tiles do on Windows Phone, they replace static app icons one is accustomed to seeing on competitor platforms (iOS, Android, etc.).
Now you'll be able to pin a webpage as a
live tile and rather than
just being a static thumbnail, it will update with information from that website, like news, for example.
But how often do you rely on the
Live Tile information, or do you overlook it and
just use the
Tile to jump into the app or game?
Microsoft is on a roll when it comes to advertising, and they
just got a huge boost in Europe by bringing Windows 8 and its
Live Tiles to the front and center of the MTV European Music Awards.
The left side of the window will be standard and will include all the basic operations
just like Windows 7, but the right side will contain the Metrostyle
live tiles that you can customize.
To create a
Live Folder,
just drag a
tile over another
tile and then name the folder.
The app has a very robust
Live Tile and lockscreen support, plenty of settings to help the app fit your needs better and is
just a sharp looking app.

Live tile breaks and won't update Can't share a song via test or email... and those are
just the features that were removed.
Tiles created with Tilesparency are
just like any other
Live Tile.
Many of them are replaced by the
live tiles of apps with similar features — pin those to the Start menu and if you
just want a quick glimpse of information like the weather report, you can see it without opening the app.
But probably one of the cooler things is this has a
Live Tile meaning everyday it will show the latest pic right on your Today screen, which we think spices up the phone
just nicely.
The app
tile itself is using a Windows 10 - orientated design, including support for wide and large
tile sizes, but there's no «
live tile» element
just yet.
For instance,
Live Tile's must always display the latest information, must have notifications for all apps, should be more interactive, and the return of the Me
Tile with added functionality are
just some things Microsoft should bring to the table.
Rudy Huyn, the developer who brought you TVShow, has
just posted up a video showing how one could create a Tetris game, using
just the new and expanded
Live Tiles in Mango.
NFL
Live Tile is a novelty app that
just hit the Windows Phone Marketplace.
Specifically he created a Tetris game using
just Live Tiles, which is pretty awesome.
You can use the
live tiles to customize your Windows Phone
just like we saw with the Portal 2
tiles.
Just tap and hold on the forecast city listing on the main page (you can also do this from the detailed forecast view) to create a
Live Tile on your Start Menu.

live in the Marketplace and brings some cool new additions with it: Conversation
live tile — pin a specific conversation to your Start screen Pulse from landing page — tap in the «Send a message» box and go...
It's
just a simple app (with a nice
tile) that shows you how much battery
life is left in percentage form.
The Windows Phone 7 application is being offered over at the Marketplace for $.99 and has a lot more going for it than
just a
Live Tile.
There are now
Live Tile unread article counts (badge) and new options like Peek (the current style, where the image slides in), Background (image is static with article title overlay) or Disabled (
just rotating article title).
