In fact one (of many) miscues in the gospels is when Jesus is claimed to have ordered his apostles to «take up the cross» — the cross would not have had meaning to Jesus when he was
living... unless of course... oh
right... the cross had been
around as a religious symbol for thousands of years... oops.
You want people to get it
right... you know the difference in
life when you start to turn it
around.
If we accept the message, if we focus our understanding of God and
life around this message, if we
live toward God and in
right relationship with others with Jesus as our compass, then for us he is indeed the Christ.
