While a top - loading machine requires enough water to cover all the clothes in its drum, a front -
loading washer needs only a third of that amount because its drum is set horizontally in the machine.

washers that beep like once an hour after the
load is done so you are reminded.
If you find your front -
load washer is not adding enough water, you may
need to add a wet towel to the
load... front -
load washers gauge how much water to add based on the weight of the
load, and a wet towel will add extra weight!
High efficiency
washers base the amount of water they use on the weight of the laundry
load, so this makes the
washer think that more water is
needed.

If you have a front -
loading washer, you don't want to do this as the suds could mess with your machine, so you'll
need to get a large bucket or storage tub and soak the diaper with Dawn that way.
I found that for me what worked best was limit their outfits to 9 (shirt / pants) i have a
washer so its easier to do a
load a day to keep up with everyones
needs.
Front -
loading washers are the next most likely to
need a repair after a few years of use, but 75 percent of them do not break down in the first three to four years.
Refresh bedding, food and water as
needed, and disinfect the bedding daily using 3/4 cup bleach per full
load of wash (1-1/4 cups in extra large
washers) and the hottest water setting.
