Local democratic control of public education was a strongly rooted tradition in our country long before it became an independent nation.
That within comprehensive schools
under local democratic control — to end the disastrous policy of academies and free schools that is built on schools competing with each other rather than cooperating.
The removal of local decision making on the allocation of funding, in favour of tighter control of funding from Whitehall, will adversely impact accountability, transparency and
local democratic control of education funding.
But local control and
local democratic control are two different things.
