One of these is an extended period of bleeding called
lochia in which the lining of the uterus, the endometrium, is sloughed off and the uterus shrinks down to its pre-pregnancy state — the size and shape of a pear.

in case,» they get their periods.
Also, for about six weeks after delivery you'll probably need to wear a full - size sanitary napkin to absorb the flow of blood called

in you and your new baby, letting you know what's normal, such as bleeding after birth (

lochia and maybe some cramping), and... orgasm!!
Lochia can be pretty heavy
in the first few days, and leaks are possible.
In this final stage of
lochia, rather than blood you'll see a white or yellowish discharge that's generated during the healing process and the initial reconstruction of your endometrium.
In most cases,
lochia occurs without complications and will gradually taper off.
There is no special management needed for
lochia, but there are a few things to keep
in mind.
Only halted by getting pregnant... which eventually results
in cramps so agonising you'll beg for an enormous needle to be inserted
in your spine, have extensive stitches and endure a Red Sea - style flow called «
lochia» that requires special mattress - sized pads for weeks afterwards.
