Titled with reference to Charles Dickens» novel, this exhibition brings together a number of major works by Lubaina Himid, who has a
long relationship with both the Harris
gallery and Preston (she is professor of contemporary art at the University of
Central Lancashire).
He works with a wide range of genres, such as sculpture, installation, painting, performance, and interactive multimedia, and has participated in several international exhibitions, including Shanghai Biennale, Shenzhen Sculpture Biennale, Gwangju Biennale in South Korea, Chinese Contemporary Sculpture Documenta, with exhibitions presented at the National Art Museum of China, China
Central Academy of Fine Arts Museum, Shanghai
Long Museum, Today Art Museum, Songzhuang Art Center, Museum of the Orient in Portugal, Iberia Center for Contemporary Art, C5 Art,

Stuffed onto a wall of the exhibit's spacious
central gallery, the slate - gray canvas is filled with tightly wound loops, like one
long continuous chalk scrawl.
Installed in the Nave,
Long Gallery and
Central Gallery at UCCA against a lime - green backdrop, Beijing - based artist Xie Nanxing's seven major oil paintings serve as an informative path that traces the evolution of European oil painting from the Renaissance to modern times.
The exhibit will be divided into three parts: the museum's Rubin
Gallery will be organized into a layout that mimics Manhattan with scale models of projects like Steven Holl's Parallax Towers (alluded to above) and an alternate design for
Central Park inspired by the gardens of Versailles; the museum's
long - standing Panorama of the City of New York display will get 70 new additions to show viewers what the city would have looked like if all of the exhibit's projects had been completed; and a third display will focus on projects that were specifically intended for Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

long walk through the Sheung Wan and
Central districts of Hong Kong Island to visit some of the other area
galleries and local sites; Hanart TZ
Gallery, Osage Soho, Tang Contemporary,
Gallery Exit, and 10 Chancery Lane where I saw a new video by Dinh Q. Le, a past member of the Hammer's Artist Council.
There is a wide array of excellent
galleries which are no
longer emerging but not yet in the
central circuit.
Perez Villalta's work has been undergoing a shift of late: Though
central to his practice until not
long ago, the human figure — while still present — is now little more than a vague, ghostly suggestion; this shift was already becoming evident as early as three years ago, in his previous show at this
gallery.
The
long glass wall that separates the Lobby
Gallery from the New Museum Lobby is a
central feature of the installation.
Filling the
gallery's magnificent
central Duveen Galleries with a single new work for six months, the results have ranged from the spectacular (Fiona Banner's decommissioned fighter planes hanging from the ceiling in 2010) to the seriously underwhelming (Christina Mackie's
long stockings dangling from the ceiling).
Then there is Work No 850, staged throughout this summer, for which teams of runners have sprinted through the
gallery's
long central hall.

In December, the Museum will unveil a major new installation by Holzer that will include
long channels of lighted text running through the
central, clerestory
gallery looking out onto the pond.
Referencing to Guttenberg's
long history as the «Embroidery Capital of the United States», she begins at a corner as the
central central point and works outward into the
gallery space.
