Pull
the long end of the fabric around your back again and up over the opposite shoulder from where the short tail is.
Bring one
long end of the fabric up and over your shoulder to the front of your body and then repeat with the other end.
Repeat this process with the other
long end of the fabric and then tug on both ends of the fabric at once to pull the wrap taut.
Cross
the long ends of the fabric so that they form an X shape on your chest that is tucked into the waist portion of the wrap.
Pull one

I usually
end up making a version
of this simple table runner from
fabric and fusible tape - as I figure I can always repurpose the material in some way when it's no
longer needed on the table.
If your
fabric is really
long, stick a chair with a high back at the
end of the table to help hold the rest
of the
fabric.
Put your feet up at the
end of a
long day with an ottoman which matches your sofa, or choose a colour or
fabric which contrasts with your seating.
After you've cut your black
fabric (you should have 2 — 9 x 17 ″ pieces) you will need to sew a 1 ″ rolled clean seam on one
end of each piece, your sewing along the
long edge.
