the longtime liberal advocate's political career, which has included two losses for Senate nominations, as well as failed runs for the U.S. House and New York City Mayor.
Rangel is one of the state's more
liberal members, and a
longtime advocate for immigration reform, gun control, and the Affordable Care Act — positions that often put him on the opposite side of votes from Hochul, who was attempting to defend her seat in a heavily Republican district.
