Every year I
look forward to the coming
of spring and the warm weather so I can break
out my spring and summer
wardrobe.
Featuring a few key pieces, including a great pair
of jeans, a jacket or cardigan, a small selection
of blouses or t - shirts, and a dress that can be worn casually or formally, a capsule
wardrobe will enable you to
look fantastic regardless
of the occasion, and without the need for a desperate search through your clothes the night before a big day
out.
If you live in a cold climate like me, this time
of year doesn't just mean shopping for holiday attire or holiday gifts... no, this is the time
of year where you have to seriously
look at your shoe
wardrobe and find
out what is going to work for snowy treacherous days (much like the one we are having in Michigan today!).
If you don't want to spent a lot
of money building an interim
wardrobe, consider buying only a few new, high quality items that you know you
look great in, and then checking
out a few thrift and second hand stores for more pieces that will fit you without costing an arm and a leg.
There is some great advice
out there and as my blog grows I'm
looking forward to sharing plenty
of my own advice based on my capsule
wardrobe experience.
I like to
look at fashion, see what's new, imagine if it would
look good on me, think about if I need one
of some to round
out my
wardrobe ha ha or what I like to call a
wardrobe.
Some / a lot
of the items I have in my
wardrobe have sold
out now because I don't top up every year, but I've linked all the items in the collage to similar items I'd be tempted by if I was
looking to buy new pieces.
Today's
look combines a dark denim vest (which is actually a very old piece,
out of my mum's
wardrobe) with a dark red, almost burgundy suede skirt from H&M with a button border at the front.
Now, I know I won't be wearing these pants into November because then they will become to thin and start
looking out of place, but for now, I like how they are adding more variety to my fall
wardrobe.
I love to create different
looks by mixing and matching various pieces
of my
wardrobe whether I'm working, going
out, or relaxing.

wardrobe and pulling
out some
of my fall favorites (since that is the best part
of season changes... new
looks to wear!!)
I got so much use
out of that vest, that I'm
looking to add another one to my
wardrobe but I want one that's a little different than the one I already own.
You'll get tons

out the tights for skinny jeans or leggings and wear the dress unbuttoned; for a more casual
look, layer with sweaters or t - shirts.
This was such a fun assignment, we all set
out to choose pieces that fit into our idea
of a capsule
wardrobe, it was so cool because all 3
of us have very different styles and ended up choosing quite different pieces for the same type
of look.
These are all basic pieces in almost anyone's
wardrobe and this
look will never go
out of style.

look out for as I build on my Spring wear
wardrobe.

I featured Louella Deville here on the blog not too long ago reviewing the delicious Iris Frenchie dress, an item that, months on, I still
look forward to wearing every single time I pull it
out of my
wardrobe as if it's the first debut wear.
Looking at my
wardrobe I feel more and more that most
of it is quality essentials, with stand
out vintage pieces and an occasional designer piece.
Now that some cherry blossoms are
out and it
looks like we might've turned the page on winter here in London (perhaps a tad optimistic), it is time for my favourite
wardrobe staple, the silver sequin skirt to sparkle in the sunshine, instead
of hiding beneath a winter coat.
But I can't rely on this one
look to keep me going, I need a few capsule items to bolster my Spring
wardrobe... my current thinking is a classic pair
of cropped or straight leg trousers (i'm loving these), a quality white shirt to throw on with everything, something a little special for weekends or evenings
out (this jumpsuit has seriously caught my eye), maybe a flirty midi skirt for styling up and down (this one's gorgeous), and maybe a statement loafer (these Gucci ones have stolen my heart).
While I don't have a lot
of the classic pattern lining my
wardrobe, I do have a few pieces for my home that I really
look forward to digging
out as soon as the temperature starts dropping below 50 - degrees in the evenings.
At stores like this, you will find a surprisingly large range
of biker themed fashion items that are not so over-the-top that they would
look out of place with the rest
of your
wardrobe.
As much as I love the idea
of having this perfectly edited
wardrobe with a few high - quality basics and just a small (ish) collection
of unique pieces that make me
look impossibly chic all the time, I'm just not cut
out for it.
Well, problem solved: There are a ton
of options
out there that add a dose
of personality to your
wardrobe and don't make you feel tied down by a boring office
look.

look On another note I don't think anyone should «get - rid»
of boot - cuts in their denim
wardrobe — they are great
of certain days or
looks but maybe don't run
out and purchase any more for awhile.
The white tee is a classic
wardrobe staple and I am always on the
look out for one that is good quality, soft and has that little bit
of extra detail that stands
out to me.
And
out of a sudden, my
wardrobe changes into something that reminds be
of the supermarket's chocolate section: nougat, caramel and all kinds
of chocolate — it just
looks really yumm!
They're pulled
out of my
wardrobe almost daily and add my unique sense
of style to
look after
look.
This very specific piece
of outerwear — oversized, expensive -
looking, often with large lapels, dropped shoulders and an ankle - skimming hem — has become a key
wardrobe component for women such as Kim Kardashian, Melania Trump and Meghan Markle, who are frequently photographed
out in the elements.
As such, I want to make more
of an effort to show you my work
wardrobe, so I'll try to shoot one
of these
looks each time I take outfit photos to balance
out my obsession with OTS tops and dresses for the weekend.

The second

out of no where, I didn't know what to wear, so I just dive in my
wardrobe and put the most impossible pieces together, I love contradictions.

wardrobe staples that you fall back on, for me it's my favourite denim, but in this post I'm talking patterns, shapes and details to
look out for, for an easy
wardrobe update as we - finally - move into Spring.
