It's very important, especially for reading, it was the reason I returned my
tablet (Advent Vega)-- it had such narrow vertical viewing angles that you had to hold it in exact «good» position all the time, any small movement and the
colors were distorted, no way to use it when keeping it on your laps or on the table (unless you would bend and
look straight on the screen)
It is unknown at this time if Barnes and Noble will close this gap in the firmware with a mandatory update, but it
looks like right now the going is good on the independent development front to turn your Nook
Color into a full fledged
Tablet PC.
I agree
color is an advantage, but if the B&N
looks under powered compared to other Android
tablets, especially as we know the other android
tablets can all have book readers on them — Amazon will be happy if you installed the Kindle App, for that matter — then B&N might
look like a weak
tablet, rather than an excellent book reader.
It certainly
looks like Barnes and Noble struck gold with the Nook
Color, it may not be an e-ink electronic reader, but an android

I believe that, for android
tablets to be truly successful, Google Android needs to
look to the model of Apple iOS, Amazon's Kindle Fire, and Barnes & Nobles» Nook
Color (over 3 million sold).
Where once the Nook brand was a reader first, with Android - powered full -
color readers with some

look at a
tablet's display quality, I judge it on a number of criteria: brightness,
color accuracy, contrast, and image clarity.

looking like both the Kindle Fire and Barnes & Nobles» Nook
Color tablet will be the android devices which will most strongly challenge the iPad's dominance.
In a test image, for example, skin tones and a brown sweater
looked far more realistic on the Nook
Tablet than on the Nook
Color.
While their tagline of «changing the face of
tablets» may be stretching things a bit, this one
looks to be a great new product in the multi-purpose eReader category, and appears to have the market currently dominated by the Nook
Color directly in its sights.
My final recommendation still is dependent on what you're
looking for: if you want an e-reader and plan to spend most of your time reading fiction novels, I can't recommend any LCD - based
tablet computer, including the Nook
Color.
However, if you (a) like reading on an LCD screen, (b) are really interested in magazines, newspapers, children's books, or Internet surfing, or (c) are
looking for an inexpensive Android
tablet computer, the Nook
Color may be worth a
look, as it's snappy and seems to function well.
