In a village near Gersik, northwest of Surabaya on the island of Java,
a loose headstone from a grave has been found which bears an Arabic epitaph in Kufic script saying that the grave held the remains of a woman who died in 475 or 495 (A.D. 1082 or 1102)-- the uncertainty is due to the difficulty in deciphering one word which may be either seventy or ninety.
