For the entire
history of civilization, until the past fifty years, people lived with the constant realities that they could die or
lose a loved one at any time, and that an ever changing
world meant economic insecurity.
There is little doubt that the NHS has been sustained in the course
of its
history by overseas professionals, often taken from parts
of the
world that could ill afford to
lose the services
of these professionals.
After many years
of studying and gaining a PhD in
history, I might not be traveling around the
world fighting evil or digging up
lost historical artifacts, but I am still no less passionate about
history.
