Hi Natalie, I noticed that you bake
a lot with apple sauce, may I ask what can I substitute for apple sauce?
Not exact matches
The
apples (I noticed when I started but I didn't have an alternative) were a bit green so they didn't get in any way tender and they tasted a
lot like despair
with a delicious
sauce.
Let me ask, as Im doing
lots of kefir, water kefir, and your
apple sauce recipe is again right up my alley, so I was curious once you add the water kefir to the
apple sauce recipe, it essentially consumes all the sugars, making it safer for people
with blood sugar issues, similiar to when you secondary ferment water kefir adding fruit juice, and it consumes the sugars still, or the organisms do.
I simplified this recipe even more in a
lot of ways, by using frozen bagged carrots, peas, and corn instead of celery and carrot, I skipped the sautéing part and just mixed the raw onion and garlic
with the mixture, I skipped the walnut toasting part and just added it in, I did all my chopping in the food processor, I used the food processor to grate the
apple and used an
apple instead of
apple butter in the
sauce and just processed it til it was slightly chunky.
Substitution Tip: There's a
lot of liquid in
apple sauce, so while you can sub it 1:1
with the sugar in the recipe, you need to reduce the other liquids to suit.
I don't have pears at home now, but
lots of
apples... bet the
sauce would go perfectly
with caramelized
apples too.
