Choice 1: How much money do we want to spend today on reducing carbon dioxide emission without having a reasonable idea of: a) how much climate will change under business as usual, b) what the impacts of those changes will be, c) the cost of those impacts, d) how much it will cost to significantly change the future, e) whether that cost will exceed the benefits of reducing climate change, f) whether we can trust the scientists charged with developing answers to these questions, who have abandoned the ethic of telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but, with all the doubts, caveats, ifs, ands and buts; and who instead seek
lots of publicity by telling scary stories, making simplified dramatic statements and making little mention of their doubts, g) whether other countries will negate our efforts, h) the meaning of the word hubris, when we think we are wise enough to predict what society will need a half - century or more in the future?
Hyundai grabbed
lots of publicity by including Apple's popular tablet computer when it launched the Equus last year, playing it up in TV commercials — so much so that you could be forgiven for thinking the Hyundai Equus was nothing more than a fancy iPad app, let alone a real luxury automobile.

The duo also scored a

publicity in Atlanta
by playing up the «local boys make good» angle
of their story as well as the idea
of a gay couple starting a company together.
And although the attendance figures in the papers the next day would still show 60,000 because
of season tickets, on the evening
of the match on the TV (MOTD) it would be visible
by millions
of people and the pundits would go wild at such a strong visible gesture particularly if a
lot of publicity was made prior to the game about the plan.
But if Sweetgreen's goal was to raise awareness about school nutrition (and not just garner a
lot of publicity for its restaurants, which it did in spades), I fail to see what it accomplished
by holding American schools up to an unrealistic international standard — whether the standard is unrealistic because it's inaccurate (Greece) or because the country in question invests far more time, money and effort than the United States in feeding its children (France.)
Some
of those «success stories» involved making new governmental regulations, but others worked
by just generating a
lot of negative
publicity for their targets.

of people how they should go on to farms, how they come off
of farms being distributed
by both veterinary practitioners and with producers through the industry.

We as readers are poorer a

My conclusion: it's costless, and good for the ego, to see silly beliefs
by others debunked, but unsurprisingly, people who apply critical thinking in some areas don't in others... Anyway, the CFI effort was a
lot of work, and deserves more

The gist is that large firms can outgun their smaller rivals just
by throwing a
lot of money into the
publicity machine and cranking it up, although there are cultural issues at work too.
Well, that maxim's playing out in the blogosphere, where a recent PR gaffe
by mega law firm Baker & McKenzie is attracting
lots of negative
publicity for the firm.
