The text indicates Paul's belief that they are relevant to persons, 1) who share a new
life in fellowship
with Christ, 2) who are open to and are guided by God's Spirit, and 3) who
live with an expectation that the Christ event includes a final fulfillment of God's
loving purpose.
That
purpose is that God may be known and
loved, worshipped and served, in the Man Christ Jesus, in whom he is made so vividly and poignantly plain to us, and that as a result he may fill our
lives with his grace and conform us to his image.
Our
purpose in this chapter is twofold; first, to understand why Christianity
with its positive view of the goodness of the creation has come to a crisis in its understanding of sexuality; and second, to consider a theological view of sexual existence which sees its place in
life which is fulfilled by the
love of God.
God in His will through history had into reality seemingly illogical or cruel events to happen in our world, but no one is spared if the

The idea of a God who not only sympathizes
with all we feel and endure for our fellow men, but who will pour new
life into our too languid
love, and give firmness to our vacillating
purpose, is an extension and multiplication of the effects produced by human sympathy.
Would they say you teach them more about what it means to
live with purpose and
love well, or would they say you get easily caught up in petty and unimportant matters?
These alike suggest that the thoughts, actions, and experiences comprising Jesus»
life and person will have been supremely compatible
with God's
loving purpose,
with which ours are only sometimes compatible; and that they will have been supremely incorporated by God into himself.
When we close the Bible we are left
with an all -
loving God who longs to welcome all people, whatever race, gender or orientation, a God to whom everyone is precious and who has placed in every
life a sacred and unbeatable
purpose.
For when our
life expresses the image of God and is in touch
with the infinite,
life - giving, self - fulfilling
love of God, when God is the source and goal of our deepest desire, then and only then do we children of God
live out creation's
purpose.
The biblical
purpose,
with varying degrees of clarity, is the same in both Testaments: that humanity may dwell in the presence of God,
live under the reign of God in peace, justice and
love.
Its true
purpose was to lead people to a personal encounter
with the Lord, present in the Eucharist, and thus
with the
living God, so that through this contact
with Christ's
love, the
love of his brothers and sisters for one another might also grow.
They will know that whatever may be the real and ultimate truth of God's being and
purpose (and it must be, in the nature of the case, far beyond our knowing), we never approach so near to that truth as when we say
with Paul, «God commendeth his
love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us,» or
with the author of the Fourth Gospel, «God so
loved the world that he gave his only begotten son,» or
with still another of those upon whom the light first shone,» Because of the great
love wherewith he hath
loved us, God hath made us, who were dead in sins, to
live again
with Christ.»
But they take comfort in knowing they have been
living focused on what matters most to them: their relationships
with the ones they
love, their relationship
with the God of the universe and the fulfillment of their unique
purpose on this Earth.
Because the Eucharist is a fact that the priest
lives with, it is helpful to be reminded that «the
purpose of this partaking is the assimilation of my
life with his, my transformation and conformation into the one who is
living Love (p. 11).»
The end - product of prayer is conformity
with God's
purposes, joy in his fellowship, newness of
life with him and
with our brethren, and the recognition that (in Paul's words from Romans) «God works towards a good end, and in every respect, for those who
love him.»
Who are we to judge what God does or allows he has his reasons who can fathom his ways he sees the end from the beginning and is not limited to time or space like we are.Does God want anything the answer is Yes he wants a relationship
with us that is why he sent his son because he had a
purpose in creating us.However the wages of sin is death in this scripture alone regardless of what happens here we all deserve to die God could have wiped us all out
with another flood for who of us is worthy.It is by grace that we
live and yes bad things do happen to good people just as it does for the wicked is it to test our faith i do not know but i do know that God gives us the grace to endure through trials and difficulty and that all things do work for Good if we
love him..
We all need to
love God and align ourselves
with His
purpose that we may enjoy the
life He wants us to
live.
In the end, there's too much evidence that God
loves us,
with a passion that is totally unreasonable and completely redemptive, to ever stop trusting in God's
purpose for the world, and for our
lives.
Yes, Sam, I am beginning to see that
life is a riddle, a bit like Scripture, and the
purpose of the riddle is not the find the answer necessarily, but to struggle
with the riddle in
love along
with others.
Or if they are already in it through present membership, we are preaching
with the
purpose that they may grow in the knowledge and
love of Christ, the Church's Lord, more fully appropriate his grace in the community of his people, and more profoundly realize what it means to be incorporated into his ongoing
life in the fellowship of the Church.
As we enter 2018, let's plan to face challenges head on, spread more
love and less pain, be compassionate, be helpful, and
live with purpose.
