The different arms
of the trial were very well - matched as regards age (average age ≈ 55 y, ± 5 - 7 y depending on subgroup), education, time from onset
of disease, and MDS - UPDRS scores at onset; the only evident differences were a higher
number of males and higher body weight in the
low - dose treatment
group.
A growing
number of human studies suggest that a
low plasma Aβ42 / Aβ40 ratio is a risk factor for major depression, 45, 46 dementia47 and higher mortality.48 The Framingham Study also showed that increased plasma Aβ42: Aβ40 ratios are associated with decreased risk
of AD and dementia.13 Thus, the higher Aβ42 / Aβ40 ratio observed in regular meditators at baseline and the increase in this ratio from pre - to post intervention in the novice meditator and vacation
groups may be salutary to brain health.
To give them their due credit, most
of the community
groups understand this, and are just trying to keep toad
numbers low until scientists can find a better way to control these troublesome pests.
It should be noted that the
number of tags preferential to the never smoker set is substantially higher, most likely due to the
lower sample size
of never smokers relative to the other two
groups.
The acutely stressed
group actually had greater
numbers of activated T cells,
lower cancer incidence and fewer
numbers of skin tumors.
Now just replace «nerds» and «jocks» with «
low carb fanatics» or «anti-grain people» or «paleo dieters» or «vegans / vegetarians» or «raw foodists» or «gluten - free people» or «100 % clean eaters» or any
of the other seemingly infinite
number of groups who feel that their dietary preferences are far superior to everyone else's.
