For his second solo show COME OUT 2 SHOW THEM at Lichtundfire in the
Lower East Side, New York - based artist Christopher Stout created a series of abstract minimalist
paintings informed by the
traditions of Western Reductivistism and the Japanese philosophy of wabi - sabi.
It provides a sustained consideration of the artist's relationship to the
tradition of Japanese
painting and his facility in straddling high and
low, ancient and modern, eastern and western, commercial and high art.
The finished works, which he considers to be
paintings, refer to high art,
low art, the domestic arts, Pollock, Klee and indigenous
traditions of art making.
