An ≈ 40 % reduction in risk for total mortality was associated with the package of whole - grain consumption, higher consumption of other plant foods and
lower consumption of meats, nonsmoking, increased physical activity, better education, and reduced
body fatness, compared with those who rarely consumed whole grain and otherwise had a less favorable dietary and lifestyle pattern.
