You can pause / play music, raise or lower the volume, and skip tracks as well, but there's a third button on the front of the speaker that's the real star of the show.

Max will play personalized playlist and acts as DJ, so you use your voice to play certain artists, raise or lower volume, music genres, or sing it a hook to have the DJ attempt to identify the song.

Then there is volume optimized EQ to help you enjoy your music at its best even in high or low volumes.

One of my favorite things about the One speaker is that it makes music sound amazing with rich bass even at lower volumes.

I also liked that, instead of pausing the music, the IconX merely lowered the volume as the voice spoke.

Clockwise and counter-clockwise gestures can raise and lower the volume of music and video playback, and you can touch the top of the speaker to pause things.

Vocals in music tracks can sound rather sharp at times, and you would do well to keep the volume level below the maximum to avoid hurting your ears, especially in audio files with low bit rates.

Tapping the left or right side of the disc will lower or raise the volume, while tapping the middle will pause music, stop an alarm, or cancel a command.

Though it has the added benefit of fantastic sound quality on voice calls (call audio plays through one of the phone's main speakers but at a much lower volume, of course) the BoomSound feature is really only good for people who watch videos or listen to music on their smartphones without headphones.

That said, it sounded good even at low volumes and I ended up using it to play music in the background throughout the day as well.
