Oh my goodness, I have to share with you some of the
food... it was unbelievable and don't think that I'm not going to try to recreate some of the yummies I ate at the conference at home (as a matter of fact, just finished up a delicious salad for

My husband is a construction worker who eats junk
food and pizza with the guys for
lunch all week and doesn't like when I try to «healthily» things.
There's an unwritten rule of
food blogging that says, «When you don't have anything else to write about, blog your
lunch.»
This week I'm sharing another new
lunch box find... PERFECT for picky eaters who
do NOT like cold
food.
I don't like having to pull
food from the freezer because it means there is less in there for times when we really are having a
food emergency, and it pulls from the
lunch supply.
I didn't measure and weigh this
lunch, and the bread came from the bakery, so I'd have to guess about the nutritional content of everything, but to be honest, I'm not as concerned about the numbers with fresh whole
foods.
I have little kids and it drives me nuts when people offer them
food without asking me — and if they
do ask me I feel guilty to say no — wrapped sweets can be stuffed in a pocket though and kept for after
lunch so maybe they're ok!

do spend time brainstorming
lunch ideas... the kids never complain but I get bored of packing the same
foods over and over.
But I
do think there's a role for government at the macro level (where it already has great influence over our
food) such as corn and soy subsidies, the National School
Lunch Program (and the related use of surplus farm commodities), etc..
The
food pyramid was designed with a lot of input from special interest groups, such as the beef industry that
did not want its products removed from the school
lunches.
But when it comes to the
food in «packed
lunches and snacks, bake sales and booster sales, fundraisers, and class birthdays and holiday parties,» as well as
food used classroom rewards, the medical organization finds that much work remains to be
done.
-- Chill the
foods and the
lunch box before packing them (this is best
done the night before) and keep them refrigerated until just before the child leaves for school.
They would probably like cookies / chips and those would also be quite calorie - dense (and therefore more likely to fill their tummies)-- but I don't think anyone here would advocate that
lunch for low - income children should be junk
food.
