On Wednesday, General Motors announced that Johan de Nysschen would be replaced as head of the
carmaker's Cadillac
luxury division by Steve Carlisle, a relative unknown who started at GM in 1982 and had most
recently been running Canadian operations.
Then the gear count started to increase gradually: first at seven, which seemed like a novelty, and quite
recently at eight, which most
luxury carmakers rushed to adopt.
In addition to its
luxury range, the German auto giant more
recently opened its second assembly division at the Chakan facility for the GLA and made a total investment of Rs. 1000 crores in India, the largest by any
luxury carmaker.
