For starters, no one is kidnapped this time around, and the villains are so
far removed from the story that the
main antagonist only appears in the opening scene and shortly again at the end.
Good performances by the
main actors does make it a cut above most horror films if its ilk (though Joe Anderson's German accent is
far from authentic), and there is a very effective creep factor involved in the choice of
antagonist, a wildly growing, mimicking plant that can grab, infest and devour its victims in the most grisly and stomach churning ways possible.
However, the rest of the cast falls
far short in credibility, with the
main antagonists in particular lacking the formidability or charisma to be truly menacing... or at least interesting.
