Unfortunately, even upon completion,
these main faction missions remain on your active mission list, occupying two of the seven spots you have available.

With hundreds of hours of content spread out among the various
factions, side quests, and
main story
missions, Skyrim is one of the richest and densest RPGs ever made.
To unlock these you'll again have to join up with the various
factions, and getting points to spend on them can only be done by completing
main story
missions within them, but it's totally worth it as you can get access to some sweet tricks, such as cloning your own ship to help you out in a fight or activating a super-shield that's capable of absorbing vast amounts of weapons fire.
At first these are enjoyable diversions, but before long you'll find that your head hurts, but sadly these
missions serve as the best way to gain the XP required to unlock the
main story
missions and
faction missions.
During the
main story
missions you'll rebuild their headquarters and liberating certain sectors will allow the construction of an out post for the
faction of your choice, they can then be recruited around the streets to help you out.
Featuring both named and custom hero characters, the
main story has you play a couple of
missions as General Sentenza Nora (voiced by The Witcher's Gerald, Doug Cockle) before creating your very own hero, and proceeds to show off pretty much every one of the game's mechanics and
factions.
All of your
missions have simple context, sure, but the game's
main factions have barely any detail to them.
