The Warehouse Gallery March 1 — May 12, 2012 In her first
museum solo - show, the artist was asked to produce a new body
of work that addresses the Warehouse Gallery's
space (
main gallery and the vault), and to experiment and venture out onto new terrains.

SAM's desire to further serve its community was realized in 2007 with the opening
of two stunning new facilities: the nine - acre Olympic Sculpture Park (designed by Weiss / Manfredi Architects)-- a «
museum without walls,» free and open to all — and the Allied Works Architecture designed 118,000 - square - foot expansion
of its
main, downtown location, including 232,000 square feet
of additional
space built for future expansion.
These projects at 231 Bowery also seek to foster a new relationship between the artists and the public by allowing artists to create work outside the confines
of the
main museum building and in closer proximity to the energy
of the street and to the creative
space of the artist's studio.
An aura
of mystery and sadness is created, in the
main space, by a large group
of museum showcases destroyed and robbed.
Though the glass doors at the entrance, one can see further sandbags in the
main foyer and lower gallery
spaces that are ostensibly shoring up the walls
of the
museum.
The
museum is currently composed
of two interconnected buildings: the YBCA Forum — which houses the center's
main lobby, temporary exhibition
spaces, workshops, and a conference room; and the 755 - seat YBCA Theater.
Occupying the three
main floors
of the
museum, and including a range
of work from the artist's early career that investigates the representation
of the female body, the event moved through to her more recent video installations that transform
spaces into surreal dreamlike environments.
The major show, curated by internationally renowned author Simon Njami, is covering the
Museum für Moderne Kunst Frankfurt am
Main's entire
space of 4,200 square meters, and includes twenty - three works produced explicitly for this occasion.
A large horizontal building houses all
main spaces, including most
of the exhibition galleries; its ground floor accommodates the entrance lobby, the
main court, a restaurant, a
museum store, and a children's gallery, all accessible free -
of - charge by the visitors.
The billboards show photographs
of a cardboard scale model
of the
museum's
main gallery
space that I had made in my studio.
He was responsible for the press, and managed the first benefit action for the exhibition
space Portikus in Frankfurt, and also organised a series
of different exhibitions together with the

Museum as part
of the science fiction - themed exhibition Memory Palace based upon author Hari Kunzru's futuristic vision
of a dystopian London, and next on his agenda is a solo exhibition entitled Controlled
Spaces in Portland's Breeze Block Gallery in their
main space, alongside UK - based Carl Cashman in Gallery 2.
He blames the
museum for «sucking the life out
of Main Street,» two blocks away, by offering office
space; for not stepping up to help other parts
of downtown by, for example, partnering to find a use for the historic former Mohawk Theater movie house; and for offering free admission to local residents only one day a year.
