major national credit reporting agencies, Equifax, suffered a data breach that exposed the lifetime data — names, social security numbers, credit scores — of over half the US population.
Recently the three
major credit reporting agencies — Equifax, Experian and TransUnion — agreed to a settlement with the New York Attorney General's office to overhaul the
national credit reporting process to better serve Americans.
