make the Switch version the «definitive version» (from a marketing perspective).

Nintendo may want to consumers buy the platform, but unless they're suddenly going to have a huge horde of Switch units for the Animal Crossing fans to buy around the time the game releases, they are going to risk losing out on a huge chunk of change that will greatly impact launch sales figures, so it is in their best interest to cater to both platforms, but obviously
make the Switch version better to look at and give it deluxe status.
The game's Nintendo - exclusive rides and their series - appropriate sound effects are small if charming touches that
make the Switch version feel slightly more special than it otherwise would have.
I personally believe they've intentionally gimped the Wii U version to

Also they know they would have a lot to lose
making a Switch version that would be worst than the Wii U. I think we can realistically assume that it will run well, even though it probably won't have super noticeable graphic improvement.
