While satisfying at times, poor story presentation and an abundance of superfluous elements
make Valkyria Revolution less than the sum of its parts.
On the other hand, I found myself missing the elements that
made Valkyria Chronicles so special and such a wonderful, under appreciated game.
Everything that
made Valkyria Chronicles such a beloved game has been washed away here, so SEGA could «try something new.»
Not exact matches
While most of the
Valkyria games have
made it to the West, the third game in the series has always eluded Western gamers.
As was reported last July,
Valkyria Chronicles for the Playstation 3 had some downloadable content
made available in Japan.
After SEGA released
Valkyria Chronicles on Steam last year to a very receptive PC audience, fans were clamoring for more of the series to

Valkyria Chronicles 4 looks to recapture the magic that
made the first game fantastic.
Exactly look at Final Fantasy Versus XIII aka FFXV that game was announced back at E3 2006 and still we ended up having to wait 10 years and in the midst of all this SE decided hey let's
make 2 sequels to Final Fantasy XIII that nobody asked for, and that further convolute the story of an already dreadful trilogy that pales in comparison to other lower budget jrpg's of last gen that had far more likable characters such as Tales of Xillia,
Valkyria Chronicles, and even Xenoblade Chronicles of which fared considerably better.
Valkyria Chronicles II might be heading to the PSP later in the month, but that hasn't stopped Sega from registering the URL
valkyria3.jp, which would suggest Sega is at the very least, thinking on
making the series a trilogy.

While no exact date has been set yet for either release, the PSP sequel to the PS3 tactical RPG

Companies regularly put out HD Collections to test the waters and
make sure the fan base is still there before releasing a new game, I mean look at SEGA with
Valkyria Chronicles.
On day two of the event, SEGA announced that the original
Valkyria Chronicles will
making its way to the Switch this Fall in Japan.
I'm a big fan of Sega, it's nice to see them
making a come back with games like the Yakuza series (another personal favorite) and
Valkyria Chronicles.
Valkyria Chronicles
made subversive waves with its striking visuals and unique gameplay.

Valkyria Chronicles never saw a PS3 sequel (2 and 3 came out for PSP, and 3 never
made it to the West), but Fire Emblem: Awakening has been announced for 3DS.

making the event even bigger — and featuring
Valkyria Chronicles II, Phantasy Star Portable II, and Sonic the Hedgehog 4 as our big games of the night!

Today we're diving into the second key element that
made the first
Valkyria Chronicles so epic, and stands to do the same with
Valkyria Chronicles 2: The Characters!
It takes place in a whole different timeline, continent, and universe than its predecessors, but familiar elements — such as the precious mineral ragnite and the legendary beings known as the
Valkyria —
make a return.
It does take some time to become a master playing
Valkyria, but after some trial and error, you will learn how to
make better decisions in combat.
That
made me think: perhaps what endeared so many people to the tale
Valkyria Chronicles tells is its maturity.
Valkyria Chronicles doesn't just
make each combat encounter hinge on the player's knowledge and manipulation of soldiers» quirks; Chronicles devotes entire missions to learning about important, previously unknown aspects of different characters» lives and habits.
In
Valkyria Chronicles (however much it pains me) story is much closer to play than is normal for video games (ignoring recent games
made by Bioware and Obsidian).
Complaining about marketing
makes sense for a big release, but not niche games like
Valkyria or Yakuza, where the fanbase are usually formed by people who go to gaming sites everyday.
The PlayStation 3 exclusive
Valkyria Chronicles will be
making its way over to the PC this November, SEGA announced.
When the haters claim that SEGA doesn't
make good games anymore, this is one series we add right up there with
Valkyria Chronicles and so many others to prove them wrong.
That's not to say
Valkyria Chronicles is all doom and gloom, as the cast of characters that
make up Squad 7 is varied and lively, and the sense of camaraderie that forms as the unit evolves from a team of scrappy rookies to a battalion of seasoned fighters is handled to great effect.
Considering it's been nearly a decade since
Valkyria Chronicles first released, it's doesn't come as a surprise that the game doesn't look quite as stunning as it did when it
made its PlayStation 3 debut.
Most fans will have already
made their mind up about purchasing
Valkyria Revolution.
Great news, looking forward to the summer release as
Valkyria Chronicles is one of only a few games that
make the PS3 a worthwhile purchase.
Valkyria still is the game that
made me keep my ps3:D.
The team behind
Valkyria is absolutely fantastic, so I have no doubts they've found a way to
make it work.

Only the fictional mineral «Ragnite» and the legendary
Valkyria themselves
make a return, but even those have been altered to better fit the game's fantasy setting.
Mitsuda has
made it clear in some of his comments the importance he places on evolving technically as a composer, and the
Valkyria Revolution soundtrack is a satisfying validation of that approach.
