If lack of societal support for breastfeeding is your issue, then stop
making nursing in public look so, well, crazy.
It makes nursing in public so much easier than with a regular t - shirt.
I think it's the backward thinking of people still brainwashed that formula is better than breast milk that
makes nursing in public something people consider taboo.

So I just don't get the «too much pressure to breastfeed» when all around me are images of bottles, ads for formula telling me a happy feeding
makes a happy mom, bottlefeeding moms, moms and doctors and
nurses telling new moms that formula is «just as good» and «not to feel guilty», women getting «the look» for
nursing in public, or feeling weird about doing it (I sure did)-- to me, any pressure out there is NOT to breastfeed, or do it as little as possible (not if it's not immediately easy or you don't love every minute, not past 6 mos, not
in public, not around male relatives and friends, not around children, not if you ever want to go out alone sometime...)
Whether its been support or its been rejection of a mom
nursing in public, its
made the headlines.
Some mothers, however, tell us that a
nursing cover
made them feel more confident breastfeeding
in public when they were first learning.
OK, you are
nursing while distracted, BUT you are also
nursing in public, which
makes it ok overall.
It does not mean that a mom has to choose to use that area, but it
makes it possible for a mom to
nurse in a
public place who otherwise would not, which is the goal.
Some mothers
make decorative cloth pouches to contain the unit so that
nursing in public is even more discreet.
When I've
nursed in public, I've noticed that kids are just curious and won't be distressed by breastfeeding unless parents
make it an awkward topic.

in general, and I realize that they

nursing on the go, and I'm all for that, but personally there's one thing I won't ever do while breastfeeding
in public: I won't ever use a breastfeeding cover.

nursing in public harassment, I don't think they realize the repercussions on the mom who is hearing this and the devastation and the way that it

Finding a

made herself comfortable: «It's not easy to

make it acceptable to themselves.
Many breastfeeding advocate mothers including myself were quick to come to her defense offering to write letters, join a «
nurse -
in,» and boycott HEB until they
make a
public announcement declaring a store policy that supports and welcomes breastfeeding mothers.
A huge plus, is that it seemed to
make it easier for my daughter to switch back and forth
in between bottles and me... which solves the
nursing in public issue.
I don't
nurse mine
in public as much now that she's a toddler rather than a baby, but a large shawl definitely
makes it easier.
We know it's not going to help towards larger world issues
in life but we do hope that through the power of photography and social sharing, this campaign can
make a positive change on the perspective on breastfeeding, quell negativity but most importantly, boost body confidence & empower more mums to breastfeed
in public with ease &
nurse in style whilst feeling great doing so!

in front of a mirror and practice putting your baby to your breast with a
nursing cover or baby blanket until you've got it down.

Being a large - breasted woman (lucky me... grrrr), I always felt extremely too self - conscious to breast feed
in public, and too scared to throw a blanket over me because I always wanted to
make sure there was adequate air pocket for my daughters to breath (these dang boobs are no joke) That being said, I always escaped to either a
nursing room (which all too often don't exist
in public places), or would retreat to my car and feed them.
Today's
nursing covers
make breastfeeding
in public stress - free.
And so, they set up this hotline where moms who have been victimized through
nursing in public incident can call and report the issue to «Best for Babes» and they are hoping that this will you know, if you can record all of them and keep records of them that they can then share these with the law
making and people who will hopefully start putting this into practice into their laws.
So, my question for you all is how as moms can we help to
make it so that
nursing in public becomes more of a reality?
Hopefully this new report will
make waves and
make nursing (
in public and
in private) an older baby acceptable
in the eyes of the general
public.
A topless mom is being held by her equally topless partner while
nursing her baby, a young mother is wearing a revealing black lace bra and puts
make - up on while she has the baby at the breast, various mothers
nursing in public... and yes, small bits and bigger bits of breasts showing on the pictures.
Smile genuinely (rather than defiantly) at passersby who
make eye contact while you are
nursing in public.
I've also
nursed in public with regular shirts and bras, so a
nursing shirt isn't a requirement, but it really does
make it easier (especially when I don't want to «show off» my stomach!)
I'm hoping that continuing to take my supplements and starting domperidone will take me to exclusive levels of production, but all I know is that I haven't received shade from formula feeders but I have received it from breastfeeders, and that
makes me sad because I unapologetically
nurse our son uncovered, remind everyone that boobs were
made for feeding so they can deal with breastfeeding
in public, feel that breastmilk is truly the best for babies and have an extremely hard time with the fact that I can't feed him just breast.
I finished the ad feeling uneasy and only after thinking about it for a bit did I realize what it was... I'm a breastfeeding mother that feels consistent judgment regarding my choice to feed
in public, not necessarily wanting to cover my child while feeding, pumping at work for my «older child» and she's less than 1 yr old, organizing my life / job / childcare to prioritize our
nursing relationship... I feel judgment and yet I'm
making an effort to do the best for my baby.
The tops and a couple good
nursing bras will
make feedings
in public and even at home a much easier process.
But still, having a
nursing top
makes it waaayyy easier to
nurse especially
in public.
I don't
make eye contact with people when
nursing in public because I don't want to see any reactions.
Women should feel welcomed to
nurse anywhere and all the
public initiatives like «la route du lait»
in Montreal (the milk's road) or the Breasfeeding - friendly signs that the restaurants can put on their windows do
make a difference.
The Center for Science
in the
Public Interest senior nutritionist David Schardt says «We don't want to tell people not to eat canned beans or tomatoes, but at the same time, it
makes sense for all parents, and especially pregnant and
nursing women, to minimize the exposure of their kids» developing bodies and brains to BPA.
There are several benefits with the baby slings [Benefits of Baby Sling] such as these slings are hands free, they create a great bonding tools for the parents, they may aid to reduce colic and crying, they help to lower the baby stress hormones, they
make easier to
nurse in public.
But if you're a

making that calculation that you'd be better off working
in Germany or somewhere else.
