To
make the
pumpkin stems, I stained some
wood shims that I found at our local hardware store a dark stain, then used my jigsaw to cut the ends off to give a more rustic, ripped from the vine look.
While I was there I grabbed a few sticks and was on my way to
make some shabby scrap
wood pumpkins!
We already talked about how to craft
pumpkins out of other items — like
pumpkins made out of fabric, dryer vents,
wood, toilet paper rolls, and more.
That's why I was inspired to
make something simple yet: my own scrap
wood pumpkin.

This year we got creative and
made these fun rustic fall wooden
pumpkins from reclaimed
wood, some scrap
wood and sticks from the yard.

make, and how large (one plank from a pallet could
make a smaller
pumpkin)

Another idea for
making your own
pumpkins that you can be used each year is
making some from reclaimed
wood.
For our fall mantel, I kept the sailboat painting and added
wood candle pillars, white
pumpkins and a mix of fresh silver dollar eucalyptus and a faux garland from Michaels,
made up of ecalyptus, dusty miller,
pumpkins and gourds.
Instead, the show was about the pavilions: marvelling at the sheep and the chooks and the alpacas; feeding the roaming goats and lambs in the farmyard exhibit; watching as baby chicks hatched from their eggs; gawping at the Hungarian pullis in the dog judging arena; watching a
wood - chopping heat; grinding wheat into flour and
making pasta in the fresh produce area; being awed by the 700 kg plus
pumpkin...
We just bought a log home and the velvet
pumpkins would
make a wonderful contrast to all that hard
wood!
